Professional Yachtmaster
There is growing demand for qualified crew and skippers in small commercial craft and in the superyacht industry. A key qualification to work in these areas is a commercially endorsed Yachtmaster Offshore Power qualification. We can help with this through advice and our Yachtmaster Offshore Preparation and Exam courses. Details of specific requirements are on the ISA and RYA web sites. Please contact us to discuss your specific requirements.
Yachtmaster Sail to Power conversion course
If you already hold a Yachtmaster Sail Certificate of Competence then you can convert to Power. The good news is that you have already done most of the hard work by completing the sailing exam and, once you have the mileage qualifications etc., the practical conversion exam is usually around three hours per person concentrating on the practical aspects of boating that are different when one motors, so berthing, radar, MOB etc. You can then have both a Yachtmaster Sail and a Yachtmaster Power commercially endorsed certificate.
YM Qualifying 60 mile passages
Part of the pre-requisites to take the Yachtmaster Power exam are a number of 60 mile trips including some where you are the skipper and some which involve night cruising. We are happy to work with you to ensure you have the correct mileage and skipper qualifications before you take the Yachtmaster exam.
