Schools

Irish Offshore Sailing work closely with schools in the South County Dublin area in the promotion of sailing on a variety of levels. Sailing, teaches in a variety of ways. The co-ordination of movements on a yacht to carry out a maneuver emphasizes the importance of team work. The need to communicate verbally before carrying out any maneuver onboard benefits skills relating to management and leadership, skills which are often under valued in the mainstream school curriculum.

We can cater for up to seven students on the water at any time. In the past we have had school groups from autistic and special needs schools through to transition year students interested in working the sailing industry.  We also teach classroom navigation courses to transition year students in some schools throughout the Dublin area.

One of our main focuses is in teaching 4th, 5th and 6th year students how to sail a yacht through the mediums of French and Irish.

During the summer months, we run 5 day courses onboard our yacht with a maximum of 6 students onboard, students learn to sail and communicate through their chosen language. The Irish course is run as a half day course in the morning and the French sailing classes are taught in the afternoon.

During the winter months, we run these language sailing courses for full and half days at weekends. Weekdays we run three hour sailing lessons through French and Irish in the afternoons.

Please do not hesitate to call us for the latest courses available, and for our winter program during the school term. Places are limited to call Rónán on 0857217835 and book your place early!
